WHAT IS SJIAA?

All former students are automatically members of the SJI Alumni Association.
The SJIAA is governed by a Board, which consists of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Chairpersons for: Awards, Membership, Fundraising, the Reunion and the Newsletter. The member of the SJIAA who represents the Alumni Association on the Board of Directors of the School, serves as an Ex-Official voting member of the Board of SJIAA. The Liaison, appointed by the President of the School, serves the role of facilitating communication between the School and the Alumni Association. This person is a non-voting member of the Board.
If you are interested in serving the Association as an officer or as a member of one of the committees (Awards, Membership, Fundraising, The Reunion, and The Newsletter) contact us today. (See By-laws for details.)
WHAT DOES SJIAA DO?
One of the principle goals of SJIAA is to create a spirit of family, a spirit of cohesiveness, and a sense of pride in our school and in our association. Ways in which we attempt to do this are to:
- Create exciting SJIAA newsletters about upcoming events, activities within SJI, news from individual alumni, and the successes of the SJIAA members and of present SJI students.
- Hold a memorable reunion every four years where alumni enjoy one another, share laughters and tears, and build a deeper spirit as SJI’s former students.
- Create and schedule fundraising events to increase the SJIAA's budget, which helps provide funds for scholarships to help future deaf students become successful future members of SJIAA.
